Valerie Haugh
A principal of the firm, Valerie graduated first in her class at John Marshall Law School (1987) in the evening division while she worked full time during the day at the Chicago Park District as an EEOC grant administrator. She was Executive Managing Editor of Law Review; Moot Court member; member of moot court team for Craven Competition; member of trial team for National Trial Competition; and a recipient of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois scholarship. Valerie obtained a B.A. in political science with psychology minor from Loyola University (1981). Valerie is regularly voted a “Super Lawyer” by her peers in commercial real estate.
Valerie has practiced at several downtown large law firms where she acquired a great deal of her expertise and business knowledge. She was at SNR Denton (f/k/a Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal) for the first part of her career and was involved in many complex and high level financings and restructurings. She was also Assistant General Counsel for a national bank in the Chicago area where she handled all of their commercial real estate transactions, including closing hundreds of real estate loans of various sizes and types. Valerie was a partner at another large Chicago law firm, Gardner Carton & Douglas (n/k/a Drinker Biddle) where she co-chaired the Commercial Real Estate Department and served as the chair of the firm’s Women’s Committee.

Scott Haugh
A principal of the firm, Scott obtained his JD (1988) from Northwestern University School of Law, after serving for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps. While serving in the Marine Corps, Scott obtained his B.A. summa cum laude (1981) from The University of Mississippi with a double major in Political Science and English. Scott was a member of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi and recipient of the Chancellor’s Award and Naval Institute Award.
Scott has practiced at several Chicago law firms where he acquired his expertise and his desire for helping entrepreneurs. He started at SNR Denton (f/k/a Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal) doing primarily commercial real estate. He then practiced at Fagel & Haber (k/n/a Thompson Coburn) where in addition to business law and real estate, he developed a sports practice, and was an NFL agent, representing several NFL players.
Scott’s expertise is in asset protection and crisis management. He also has experience in estate planning and corporate law. Scott’s best skills are his ability to help clients formulate a plan for building assets and legally protecting them.
